New GWM Cannon Alpha Global Edition Drops in China — Is This the Next VANTA?

Great Wall Motors has just dropped a fresh variant of the Shanhai Cannon in China, the 2.4T Global Edition and it’s turning heads with its all-black styling. With blackout trim, dark wheels, and a bolder stance, it looks suspiciously like what we’d expect from a VANTA Edition, but officially, it’s not wearing the name… yet.

Could this be a preview of what’s coming to Australia?

The Global Edition doesn’t just look tough, it’s loaded with nine drive modes, giving it serious versatility:

• Standard

• Sport

• Economy

• Snow

• Mud

• Sand

• 4L (Low Range)

• Rock

• Expert Mode

While Australia recently saw the launch of the Cannon Alpha PHEV (complete with rear coil suspension), GWM hasn’t yet confirmed whether the Global Edition will land here. But the styling, and title - GLOBAL EDITION - suggest it’s more than just a one-off China special. Will it also carry over its rear coil set up after the positive feedback about the ride quality on the PHEV?

If the demand’s there, and judging by the buzz around blacked out utes, it’s only a matter of time.
