GWM has officially expanded its Australian ORA range, with new variants now approved for sale within Australia. More importantly, this marks the first batch of Thai-built ORA vehicles entering the Australian market.
What’s changed?
Originally, Australian ORA approvals only covered:
Ora Standard Range
Ora Extended Range
Ora Extended Range GT
With the latest update , GWM has added:
Ora Lux
Ora Ultra
Ora GT (non-Extended Range GT)
This expands the model range giving more trim levels, equipment packages, and pricing options.
Thailand Production Confirmed
Some ORA production had shifted to Thailand in 2024, specifically GWMs Rayong plant where the Thailand version of the Tank 300 diesel is now also constructed. But now the Australian market will receive the Thai built models, with build dates staring from April 2025.
This is the first time GWM has officially blended multi-country production for ORA models in Australia.
Key Technical Details
All variants run GWM’s 126kW electric motor (TZ153XS001)
Single-speed automatic transmission across the board
Suspension configurations differ slightly depending on variant:
Standard, GT, or B-spec configurations
Sunroof fitment now varies by variant (some optional, some standard)
Tare and GVM adjusted slightly for the newer models
This expansion allows GWM to cover a much wider price range while confirming their growing manufacturing footprint out of Thailand.
